International Day of Radiology

The International Day of Radiology (IDoR) is an annual day of observance dedicated to the science and discipline of radiology. It will be observed for the first time on November 8, 2012 and is a joint initiative of the European Society of Radiology (ESR), the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) and the American College of Radiology (ACR).

History

In 1895 a German professor and physicist William Conrad Roentgen X ray on November eighth discovered in his laboratory.
December 28, Roentgen announced his discovery in a scientific paper. This article about a new type of radiation was released on a wide scale.

In 1896 in his speech on January 23 Roentgen's first X-ray is performed.
Professor Hesabi Father of physics and new engineering in Iran for to teach new phenomena to their students, and they reached the New World the first X-ray machine in the lab, colleges of higher ( darolmoalemin), with very small dimensions, in 1309 launched.

In honour of his discovery, the ESR along with the RSNA and ACR decided that this date should be marked each year with a dedicated day of observance.

The International Day of Radiology (IDoR) is aimed at raising public awareness of radiology and its benefits. The International Day of Radiology is a successor to the European Day of Radiology which was established in 2011. The first and only European Day of Radiology was held on February 10, 2011 to commemorate the anniversary of Röntgen's death. The European day was organised by the ESR, who have since entered into cooperation with the RSNA and the ACR to establish the International Day of Radiology.
